The search is on for the best looking yard in the city of New Baltimore.

One local resident will earn the title this summer through a new contest launched by the New Baltimore Citizens Advisory Committee. The Beautification Awards Program invites citizens to nominate residential properties they believe are worthy of recognition.

"The Citizens Advisory Committee has spearheaded this and hopes to create some fun, friendly competition amongst neighbors and residents of the city — of course all while making New Baltimore an even more beautiful town to visit and enjoy," said Kristyn Wood, chair of the CAC.

This year, the focus is on front yards and the curb appeal of New Baltimore residential properties. The CAC is interested in homes that have attractive landscaping, flower beds or gardens — or properties that feature unique fences, walkways, lighting fixtures or door treatments.

Nominations, which must be for a residential property, will be accepted through Aug. 5. One nomination per residence is allowed. Self-nominations are not accepted.

The nomination form asks for identifying information, as well as a description of why the property should receive a Beautification Award and a photo.

The winner will be named in August and will receive a beautification sign to display in their front lawn.

The Beautification Awards Program will be an annual competition in the city.
